• Gov. Malloy: Connecticut’s Historic Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine to Re-Open to the Public on July 14

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut’s Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine, a national historic landmark and state archaeological preserve, will re-open to the public this Saturday, July 14 after being closed since 2009 for structural repairs.

• National Park Service — National Register of Historic Places

  This is the official list of the nation's historic places worthy of preservation, and it is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate and protect America's historic and archaeological resources.

• Historic Neighborhood Preservation

  HNP advocates improving quality of life behind the scenes and through education.

• Office of State Archaeology

  This office is housed within the Museum of Natural History/Connecticut Archaeology Center and was established to identify, manage and preserve Connecticut's archaeological resources.

• National Park Service — Technical Preservation

  This office develops national standards and guidelines for preserving, rehabilitating, restoring and reconstructing historic properties.

• New London Landmarks

  This organization strives to promote the preservation and development of the urban environment of New London, Connecticut, including significant individual structures, streetscapes, neighborhoods and open spaces.

• Advisory Council on Historic Preservation

  ACHP is an independent federal agency that promotes the preservation, enhancement and productive use of our nation's historic resources, and advises the president and Congress on national historic preservation policy.
