• Youth Service Bureaus

  Local communities began to develop youth service bureaus in the 1960's as a response to a growing number of issues affecting youth. The role of Youth Service Bureaus (YSBs) has been broadened to include both advocacy and coordination of a comprehensive service delivery system for youth.

• Young Parents Program

  A Young Parents Program (YPP) provides day care services for the infants/toddlers of students who are enrolled in and attending a comprehensive high school program leading to graduation from high school.

• Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child

  The WSCC model provides an infrastructure for schools to engage students, families, staff, and the community to improve the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of every child.

• World Languages

  World language programs in Connecticut public schools include Spanish, French, Latin, Italian, German, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Arabic and Greek. The effort has been to start programs as early as possible in the elementary grades.

• Science Safety

  Students and teachers must be aware of the potential for safety problems in the science classrooms and laboratories. Schools should review available safety resources and develop safety training for their teachers and students as well as safety rules for the classroom.

• Education Financial System (EFS)

  The Education Financial System (EFS) is a financial reporting system used by school districts, including local and regional boards of education, charter schools and regional educational service centers.

• Resources for Addressing Trauma, Violence, and Grief

• Connecticut Apprenticeship and Education Committee

  The committee coordinates the education of middle and high school students about careers in manufacturing.

• Title I, Part A

  Title I, Part A is the U.S. Department of Education’s largest K-12 grant program. The CSDE supports local school districts in using their Title I funds to improve student outcomes.

• Title II Part A

  Preparing, Training, and Recruiting High Quality Teachers and Principals in accordance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015.

• Early Childhood, PreK-Grade 3

  The time between birth through grade 3 is considered the early childhood developmental period. The Connecticut State Department of Education provides guidance and resources for public schools beginning in preK.
