Statement from Attorney General Jepsen on US Supreme Court Cert Denial in Apple eBooks Appeal
"In 2013, the District Court ruled that Apple conspired to restrain the marketplace for eBooks. Today's denial is welcome news for consumers – it affirms an important antitrust ruling that Apple orchestrated a conspiracy among publishers to raise eBook prices and clears the way for consumers to receive the relief guaranteed them under the settlement."

AG Jepsen Announces Multistate Settlements with Natixis and Societe Generale over Anticompetitive Municipal Bond Derivatives Scheme
Several Connecticut municipalities and nonprofit organizations are expected to benefit from multimillion-dollar settlements with Natixis Funding Corp. and Societe Generale, S.A. that resolve allegations that the companies engaged in fraudulent and anticompetitive conduct in municipal bond derivative transactions with governments and organizations around the country, Attorney General George Jepsen announced today.

AG Jepsen, Commissioner Harris: State Reaches Settlement Providing Restitution to Conn. Snow Removal Subcontractors
A New York-based property management company will provide $187,095 restitution to its Connecticut subcontractors and will pay a $50,000 civil penalty to the state of Connecticut under a settlement agreement resolving an investigation into the manner in which it calculated bonuses owed to its subcontractors, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris said today.

AG Jepsen: Conn. Joins Antitrust Lawsuit over Allegations that Drug Company Illegally Blocked Generic Opioid Treatment from Market
Connecticut, 34 other states and the District of Columbia filed a federal lawsuit yesterday afternoon against the makers of Suboxone, a prescription drug used to treat opioid addiction, alleging that the companies engaged in an illegal scheme to block generic competitors from entering the market and cause purchasers to pay artificially high prices, Attorney General George Jepsen said.

AG Jepsen: Connecticut Joins $470 Million Joint State-Federal Settlement with HSBC to Address Mortgage Servicing and Foreclosure Abuses
Attorney General George Jepsen announced today that Connecticut has joined a $470 million joint state-federal settlement with mortgage lender and servicer HSBC to address mortgage origination, servicing, and foreclosure abuses. Connecticut joins 48 other states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in today’s settlement.

AG Jepsen Joins Coalition of Attorneys General Asking Congress to Fund CDC Gun Violence Research

Consumers in Connecticut will begin receiving account credits or checks on Tuesday, June 21, through the settlement of the eBook price-fixing lawsuit against Apple, Inc. brought by Attorney General George Jepsen and 32 other states in 2012.

AG Jepsen: State Enters Settlement with Tolland Psychiatrist Resolving False Claims Allegations
A Tolland psychiatrist will pay $404,798 to settle a civil False Claims Act lawsuit alleging that she submitted false claims for payments to Connecticut's Medicaid program. The resolution stems from a lawsuit and settlement agreement approved yesterday by a Hartford Superior Court judge, Attorney General George Jepsen said today.

AG Jepsen: States Reach $100M Settlement with Barclays for LIBOR Manipulation
Under a $100 million multistate settlement agreement, Barclays Bank PLC and Barclays Capital Inc. will pay $93.35 million in restitution to government and nonprofit entities for its manipulation of a benchmark interest rate in the lead up to and early days of the financial crisis, Attorney General George Jepsen announced today.

Attorney General, DCP: Multistate Action Settles Claims against Two Sham Cancer Charities
Two nationwide sham cancer charities have been dissolved and their president is banned from profiting from any charity fundraising in the future under a settlement reached with Connecticut, all 49 other states, the District of Columbia and the Federal Trade Commission, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan A. Harris announced today.
