• 3/7/2019 DEEP Kicks-Off a Comprehensive Review of Connecticut’s Water Quality Standards

  The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is conducting its triennial review of Connecticut’s Water Quality Standards to determine if revisions are necessary. DEEP is requesting the public’s input regarding the current standards, and recommendations on what to focus on, as part of the 2019 review.

• 8/21/2019 West Nile Virus Expanding Throughout Connecticut - Positive Mosquitoes found in 14 Towns

  The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) has now identified West Nile virus (WNV) infected mosquitoes in 14 Connecticut towns throughout the state.

• 3/20/2019 DEEP Statement on Fire at Silver Sands State Park

  On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at approximately 10:43 p.m., the Milford Fire Department as well as State Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police and other agencies responded to Silver Sands State Park to a report of a structure fire involving three buildings that were under construction.

  On Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at about 3:45 p.m., Connecticut State Police Troop K notified the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Emergency Dispatch Center of a boating accident involving an unknown number of people in a canoe on Amston Lake in Hebron.

• 10/17/2019 DPH Continues Fish Consumption Advisory on Lower Farmington River Downstream from Rainbow Dam Based on Validated Data from the June 8 AFFF Spill

  The Department of Public Health (DPH) and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) have received validated test results of fish tissue samples taken in July from the lower Farmington River that confirm the presence of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) at levels higher than considered safe for human consumption.
