  • 8/20/2021 MEDIA AVAILABILITY: DEEP Commissioner Dykes, HRRA Town Officials, Stakeholders to Hold Press Conference Celebrating Launch of HRRA Glass Recycling Program

    (HARTFORD)—On Thursday, August 26th, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Katie Dykes, along with the Mayors and First Selectmen of the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority (HRRA) region, and other recycling stakeholders, will hold a press conference to highlight the importance of a new glass recycling program for HRRA member towns, which will help to address the issue of glass contamination in our mixed recycling stream, contributing to a greater amount of recycled material and another important step in the effort to solve Connecticut’s waste disposal crisis.

  • 12/3/2021 DEEP 2021 Fall Atlantic Salmon Stockings Nearing Completion

    (HARTFORD)— Connecticut’s Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) is nearing completion of its 2021 fall stockings of Atlantic salmon. DEEP’s Fisheries Division began stocking Atlantic salmon in early October, and nearly 1,400 salmon have been released so far with close to 150 left to stock.

    (HARTFORD)—The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), the Connecticut Urban Forest Council (CUFC) and the UCONN Department of Natural Resources and the Environment & Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering are pleased to announce the Urban Forest Equity and Resilience Grant Program, available to municipalities and non-profit organizations in Connecticut seeking to implement statewide urban forest canopy improvements called for in the 2021 Governor’s Council on Climate Change (GC3) Report and the 2020 Forest Action Plan.
