Gov. Malloy Plan to Overhaul Higher Education Empowers Local Campuses, Directs More Money to Teaching
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a sweeping plan to overhaul the state's higher education governance and structure to provide more resources for classroom teaching and instruction to help increase the number of students receiving degrees. Governor Malloy's plan will empower Connecticut State University System and community college local campuses without closing or combining them, while at the same time, saving taxpayers and students tens of millions of dollars over time. The University of Connecticut will function separately from this governance.

Gov. Malloy Proposes Reducing Budgeted State Agencies by 30 Percent
On the heels of his second major restructuring proposal, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced his proposal to reduce the number of budgeted agencies by 30 percent – from 81 to 57 agencies.

Governor Malloy Hails Major Federal Grant for Technology in Health Care Reform
The administration of Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that Connecticut residents and businesses will benefit from a $35.6 million federal grant aimed at helping New England states develop a state-of-the-art, online gateway to health insurance options. While Connecticut and other New England states are directly participating, the project is centered at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Human Services, supported by the non-profit New England States Consortium Systems Organization.

Governor Malloy Seeks High-Speed Rail Money That Florida Rejected
In light of Florida's rejection of roughly $2 billion dollars in federal stimulus funding for high-speed rail infrastructure, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is actively pursuing a portion of those freed-up dollars to further bolster Connecticut's own high-speed rail expansion - the Springfield-Hartford-New Haven rail line.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend the ceremony for the launch of the Connecticut Freedom Trail website on Thursday afternoon. The Connecticut Freedom Trail was established in 1995 with the intention of educating the public about local African American history in State of Connecticut.

Governor Malloy Proposes Consolidated Department of Energy & Environmental Protection
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced his plan to create a newly consolidated Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), an agency that will consolidate Connecticut’s widely dispersed energy functions, including the Department of Public Utility Control, with the Department of Environmental Protection to allow for a more effective coordination of state energy and environmental policies.
