Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation That Will Keep Sikorsky's Headquarters and Thousands of Jobs in the State
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today held a ceremonial bill signing to commemorate the adoption of legislation that approves the state's agreement with Lockheed Martin and will result in keeping Sikorsky Aircraft's worldwide headquarters located in Stratford through at least 2032, where the company will retain and grow approximately 8,000 direct jobs. As part of the agreement, Sikorsky has also pledged to nearly double its spending of $350 million per year among in-state suppliers.

Gov. Malloy Announces Statewide Emergency Preparedness Drill to be Held October 29 and November 2
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut will conduct a two-day statewide emergency preparedness drill designed to simulate a major ice storm on Saturday, October 29 and Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Coordinated by the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's (DESPP) Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), and involving the state government, local governments, and utility companies, the exercise is designed, among other things, to improve communication among the state's partners during emergency situations.

Gov. Malloy Announces Funding to Upgrade the DMV Customer Contact Center
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Bond Commission has approved funding to upgrade and improve the Department of Motor Vehicles' (DMV) outdated customer contact center into a modernized system that will give customers even more convenient options when conducting business in an effort to decrease the amount of time customers may often experience on hold when making telephone calls to the center.

Gov. Malloy Receives Strategic Plan on Battling the Opioid Epidemic
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today received the final report and strategic plan on fighting the opioid epidemic that he commissioned earlier this summer in an effort to develop a succinct, prioritized, three-year strategy on behalf of the State of Connecticut that will help further prevent addiction and overdoses, which states around the country have experienced an increase in over the last several years.

Gov. Malloy and Legislative Leaders Announce Agreement on the Old State House

Malloy and leaders of the Connecticut General Assembly today announced that an agreement has been reached that will maintain responsibility for the Old State House with the General Assembly's Office of Legislative Management (OLM) in order to better secure the future of that historic Hartford building.

Gov. Malloy Appoints Arthur House as State's Chief Cyber Security Risk Officer
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is appointing Art House of Simsbury to serve in the newly created position of the state's Chief Cyber Security Risk Officer, where he will be responsible for working to enhance cybersecurity prevention and protection efforts in a comprehensive, cross-agency and cross-sector manner.

Gov. Malloy Selects Douglas M. Glanville to Serve as a Member of the State's Police Officer Standards and Training Council
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has appointed Douglas M. Glanville of Hartford to serve as a member of the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST), the state body responsible for working to enhance the professionalism of law enforcement agencies and enforce professional standards for certification of police officers.

Gov. Malloy and Congressional Delegation Announce $1.6 Million Grant to Fund Apprenticeship Training for Aerospace Manufacturing Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation today announced that the Connecticut Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship Training has been awarded a $1.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to assist the efforts of the state apprenticeship training program that targets the aerospace manufacturing and maintenance sector, known as the Connecticut Apprenticeship Expansion Rx project.

Gov. Malloy Says New State Law Will Bolster Efforts to Increase Diversity and Maintain the High Quality Expertise Among Connecticut's Teachers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a new state law he signed will advance the state's efforts to improve in the recruitment and retention of minority teachers in an effort to increase diversity in the classroom and ensure the state can continue to provide high-quality education for all of its students. Gov. Malloy and Dept. of Transportation Debut New Snow Plows That Can Clear Two Highway Lanes in One Single Pass
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today debuted the state’s new fleet of three tow-behind plows that are capable of clearing snow and ice from two full highway lanes in a single pass. Towed in the rear of a truck, the plows measure 26 feet in length, essentially doubling the width of a single plow truck when in operation, and will boost the state’s overall handling of winter maintenance and snow-clearing operations on state roads.

Gov. Malloy and Congressional Delegation Applaud Federal Funding to Help Homeless Veterans find Permanent Homes
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, and the members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation are applauding an announcement made today by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that local public housing agencies in Connecticut will receive $264,272 to help provide permanent homes to veterans experiencing homelessness. The supportive housing assistance announced today is provided through the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program which combines rental assistance from HUD with case management and clinical services provided by VA.

Gov. Malloy Announces New Platform Opening at Branford Station on Shore Line East
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Connecticut Department of Transportation Commission James P. Redeker and other state and local officials today marked the completion of a new platform at the Branford railroad station on Shore Line East - the commuter rail line between New Haven and New London. Trains are scheduled to begin utilizing the new platform on Saturday, November 5.

Gov. Malloy Announces Roadwork on State Roads and Highways Will Be Suspended Over Thanksgiving Weekend
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that all construction and paving activities on state roads and highways will be suspended over the coming Thanksgiving weekend in order to prioritize the convenience of motorists and help ease congestion.
