Gov. Malloy Announces Release of $12.2 Million in Volkswagen Settlement Funds to Support Clean Air Projects in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut is making available $12.2 million dollars from the legal settlement in the Volkswagen (VW) Corporation emissions cheating scandal to fund ten clean air projects in the state. Administered through the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Connecticut is one of the first states in the nation to make these funds available for a variety of diesel mitigation projects. The ten projects announced today are part of the first funding cycle under the distribution of the state’s VW settlement funding.

Gov. Malloy Announces $22 Million to Develop over 700 Affordable Housing Units in Hartford, New Haven and Waterbury
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that nearly $22 million is being awarded to support the development of affordable housing in Hartford, New Haven, and Waterbury as part of the latest round of funding under the state’s Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties (CHAMP) program. The awards will create, rehabilitate, or preserve 702 units of housing and greatly expand access to mixed-income, multifamily units across the state while building on the state’s efforts to prevent and end homelessness.

Gov. Malloy Announces Opening of DMV Express Office in Stamford for License and ID Card Renewals
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Michael Bzdyra today announced that beginning Wednesday, November 28, 2018, a new DMV Express office will open in Stamford, providing customers with increased opportunities to renew driver’s licenses and identification cards while expanding accessibility and convenience.

Gov. Malloy Encourages Veterans to Apply for Troops to Teachers Program
In observation of Veterans Day, Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reminding school districts, veterans and their families, and all residents about Connecticut’s Troops to Teachers program, and encouraging service members and veterans to apply. Troops to Teachers is an initiative that provides service members who are transitioning into civilian life and veterans who have already left service with the training necessary to seek careers as school teachers in K-12 schools. The program, which also helps participants find employment as a teacher once the training is complete, helps reduce veteran unemployment while also providing students with exceptional role models in the classroom.

Gov. Malloy Activates State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol from Wednesday Afternoon Through Friday Morning
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that in anticipation of temperatures over the next couple of days that are forecast to be bitter cold with negative wind chill factors at times, he is activating the State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 21, 2018 and remaining in effect through Friday morning. This is the first time this season that the protocol has been enacted.

Gov. Malloy Statement on October Employment Report
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement regarding the October Labor Situation report, which shows an increase of 1,500 net jobs for the month. In total, private sector jobs are up 25,700 jobs over the year from October 2017 to October 2018. This represents the 99th consecutive month where monthly private sector job numbers exceeded the numbers in the same month in the previous year.

Gov. Malloy Introduces Juvenile Justice Reform Legislation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has submitted two legislative proposals to the Connecticut General Assembly that will help avoid exposing young people to the adult criminal justice system, giving them a chance at a life full of potential instead of a life of crime. Both bills are scheduled to receive public hearings in the legislature’s Judiciary Committee tomorrow, March 21.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that all state offices will have a one-hour delayed opening on Thursday, March 8, 2018, due to inclement weather conditions. Nonessential, first-shift employees should report to work one hour from their normal reporting time.

Gov. Malloy Announces Tractor Trailer Highway Ban will be Lifted on All Highways Except I-84 Effective 10pm Tonight
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that the travel ban for tractor trailers and tandem trailers on all limited access highways will be lifted effective 10:00 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, March 7, 2018) except on I-84, where it will remain in effect until further notice.

Gov. Malloy to Partially Activate State’s Emergency Operations Center at 11am Wednesday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he will partially activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 to monitor storm conditions across the state and prepare for winter weather that is forecast to have a significant impact on afternoon and evening travel.
