Gov. Malloy: Recycling Market Development Council Will Strengthen Economy, Create Jobs, and Protect Environment
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Daniel Esty, Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, and state leaders, today announced the formation of the Recycling Market Development Council to expand and strengthen Connecticut's efforts to recapture valuable materials that are in the waste stream.

Gov. Malloy Proposes Balanced Budget With No New Taxes
Presenting his Fiscal Year 2014/15 budget to the General Assembly, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today outlined an ambitious agenda that builds on the investments made over the past two years in job creation and education without proposing any new taxes. In order to achieve those goals, the Governor’s proposed budget reduces spending by $1.8 billion off the state's current services budget.

Gov. Malloy: Sandy Hook Advisory Commission to Hear from Trauma Services and School Crisis Experts Friday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is next scheduled to meet on Friday, February 22, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, where they will hear testimony from experts in the field of student support and school crisis response, including doctors with experience in psychology and trauma services.

Gov. Malloy to Town Leaders: Middleclass Tax Relief Must be a Priority
In a letter to town leaders, Governor Malloy today reaffirmed his commitment to providing middleclass tax relief to Connecticut’s working families. In addition to investing in job creation and education, the Governor’s proposal would eliminate the car tax for vehicles valued below $28,000 and reinstate the sales tax exemption on clothing under $50.

Gov. Malloy: Travel Ban to go into Effect at 4PM in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that there will be a ban on motor vehicle travel on limited access highways in the State of Connecticut beginning at 4PM. These prohibitions do not extend to emergency response and recovery vehicles, including public safety vehicles, utility vehicles, and vehicles carrying essential personnel or supplies.

Malloy will make a major announcement during the closing session of the conference on reducing gun violence that is being sponsored by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, and Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty and will be attended by Vice President Joe Biden.
