On Saturday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will participate in the dedication ceremony for the Norwich Intermodal Transportation Center. The Center will serve as the new transportation hub for southeastern Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy Nominates Six to Fill Vacancies on Superior Court
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he has nominated six individuals to serve as judges on the Connecticut Superior Court, filling a portion of the 23 judicial vacancies on the court that currently exist due to retirements or elevations to higher courts.

Gov. Malloy Statement on May Jobs Report
Governor Dannel P. Malloy issued the following statement regarding today’s release of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s monthly “Labor Situation” report for May 2012, which indicates that the state’s unemployment rate for the month was 7.8 percent, compared to the national rate of 8.2 percent. The state grew 1,400 jobs in the month of May and a total of 6,100 jobs since the beginning of the year.

Malloy today announced that he will launch a summer-long effort to highlight the role Connecticut's hospitality, tourism, and recreation sites play in strengthening the state's overall economy. The tour follows last month's unveiling of the state's new 'Still Revolutionary' marketing campaign, a new initiative that will boost revenues and draw attention to the state's distinctive attractions and extraordinary destinations through an aggressive marketing campaign.

Gov. Malloy Receives Consensus Revenue Estimate, Pledges to "End Current Fiscal Year in the Black"
In response to consensus revenue figures announced today by the Office of Policy and Management (OPM) and the Office of Fiscal Analysis (OFA), Governor Dannel P. Malloy directed OPM Secretary Ben Barnes to develop a budget management plan that will limit spending to available resources in FY12.

Gov. Malloy: Tronox Establishing Global Headquarters in Stamford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide a $3 million loan to assist Tronox Inc. to establish its global corporate headquarters in Stamford. The global mineral company will create up to 100 jobs within three years as part of its $10 million capital investment in Connecticut.

Malloy today released the action plan composed by William Hackett, State Emergency Management Director at the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), who was asked to lay out a roadmap for determining how the State can update and improve its “Master Plan” to create a more unified response for state and local governments and utility companies during a disaster.

Gov. Malloy Unveils Pension Proposal That Will Save Taxpayers Nearly $6 Billion Over Twenty Years
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a change to the pension funding plan that will avoid a spike in the state’s obligation in Fiscal Year (FY) 2032, avoiding a potential fiscal crisis. Under the current contribution plan, the state would have to make a one-time payment of $4.5 billion in FY2032 in order to reach full funding. The restructuring will save the state nearly $6 billion over the next 20 years, and put the pension system on the road to long-term sustainability, something that is currently not the case.
