Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of five states and the City of New York announcing an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that would commit the federal government to addressing pollution that blows into Connecticut and creates unhealthy ground-level ozone (commonly known as smog).

Attorney General William Tong today joined a coalition of 21 attorneys general and the cities of Denver and Chicago in urging Congress to use the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to invalidate a Trump Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation that eliminates key limits on pollutants from oil and gas facilities that contribute to climate change and smog.

Attorney General William Tong today announced a $350,000 joint state and federal settlement with Cornell Scott Hill Health Corporation (CSHHC) resolving allegations that the New Haven-based health center carried out a policy that resulted in overbilling the state’s Medicaid program for certain dental services.

Attorney General Tong Urges FERC to Tighten Climate and Environmental Justice Scrutiny for New Gas Pipelines
Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of nine attorneys general urging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to strengthen its certification policies for new natural gas pipelines to scrutinize disproportionate impacts on overburdened environmental justice communities, as well as achievement of national and state greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

Attorney General Tong Announces $26 Billion Agreement With Opioid Distributors/Manufacturer
Attorney General William Tong today announced an historic $26 billion agreement with pharmaceutical distributors Cardinal, McKesson, and AmerisourceBergen and manufacturer Johnson & Johnson to bring desperately needed resources to fight the opioid crisis. Connecticut will receive approximately $300 million as part of the landmark settlement.

AG Tong Urges U.S. Supreme Court to Halt Unconstitutional Texas Abortion Ban
Following a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that it will hear two challenges to Texas’ unconstitutional six-week abortion ban, Senate Bill 8 (S.B. 8), Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 24 attorneys general asking the Court to block the ban from going into effect and allow challenges to the ban to proceed.

Attorney General Tong Joins Coalition of AGs Urging Congressional Support for Fraud and Scam Reduction Act
Attorney General William Tong is joining a coalition of 47 attorneys general in urging congressional leaders to support the Fraud and Scam Reduction Act. The act, comprised of the Stop Senior Scam Act and Seniors Fraud Prevention Act of 2021, will assist stakeholders in training employees to recognize the warning signs of elder fraud and to prevent irreversible damage to elderly victims.
