Attorney General William Tong today announced an agreement with Northwell Health, Inc. and Northwell Healthcare, Inc. (collectively “Northwell”) and Nuvance Health (Nuvance) to preserve labor and delivery services at Sharon Hospital and to strengthen access to local healthcare in Western Connecticut, resolving the antitrust investigation into the proposed affiliation between the two hospital systems.

Attorney General William Tong and 42 other attorneys general today announced a $700 million nationwide settlement to resolve allegations related to the marketing of Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder and body powder products that contained talc. As part of the settlement, Connecticut will receive $9,273,125.22.

Attorney General Tong, Consumer Counsel Petition for State Review of Iberdrola Move to Take Avangrid Fully Private
Attorney General William Tong and Consumer Counsel Claire E. Coleman today filed a petition with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority seeking state review of the proposed acquisition by Iberdrola of all remaining shares of Avangrid. Iberdrola is a Spain-based multinational conglomerate that owns 81.6 percent of United Illuminating, Southern Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas, as well as utilities in Maine, Massachusetts and New York. Iberdrola has moved to purchase all remaining shares, removing Avangrid as a publicly traded company.
