Attorney General William Tong issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court today permitted a lower court ruling to remain in place preventing the Biden administration from enforcing the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) against Texas hospitals who decline to provide essential, stabilizing medical care to a patient when the medically necessary care is an abortion.

Attorney General Tong Backs Rule Increasing Consumer Choice of Cellphone Providers
ttorney General William Tong is urging the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to pass a proposed rule to enable consumers to switch mobile service providers while keeping their existing mobile phones. If adopted, the mobile phone unlocking rule would require all providers to unlock devices within 60 days of activation in most circumstances – reducing consumer cost and confusion in the marketplace.

Attorney General William Tong today is urging parents to exercise caution regarding anti-aging skincare products marketed to children and teens via social media. Many of these anti-aging products contain active ingredients, including retinol and other acids, that are often unsuitable for—and potentially even harmful—to children’s skin.

Attorney General Tong Joins Lawsuit Against RealPage Inc. for Alleged Antitrust Violations
Attorney General William Tong and the United States Department of Justice, together with the Attorneys General of North Carolina, California, Colorado, Minnesota, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington, filed a civil antitrust lawsuit today against RealPage Inc. for its unlawful scheme to decrease competition among landlords in apartment pricing and to monopolize the market for commercial revenue management software that landlords use to price apartments.
