Attorney General Tong Statement on Appeals Court Decision Enabling Purdue Settlement to Proceed
Attorney General William Tong today issued a statement following a decision by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit overturning a U.S. District Court ruling that vacated a Purdue bankruptcy order over its reliance on so-called “nonconsensual third-party releases” forcing states and other parties to grant unprecedented lifetime legal immunity to the Sackler family.

Attorney General Tong Announces $470,000 Settlement with Optimus Health Care Over False Claims and Improper Billing Allegations
Attorney General William Tong, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General today announced that Optimus Health Care, Inc., a federally-qualified health center (“FQHC”) based in Bridgeport, has entered into a civil settlement agreement with the federal and state governments and has paid a total of $470,093.93 to resolve allegations that it submitted false claims to the Connecticut Medicaid program, and received overpayments from Medicaid for ineligible services.

Attorney General William today joined with 32 other attorneys general announcing a settlement with health care clearinghouse Inmediata for a coding issue that exposed the protected health information (“PHI”) of approximately 1.5 million consumers for almost three years.
