Attorney General Tong Releases Statement on DOGE Access to Sensitive Personal Information
Attorney General William Tong today joined a coalition of 12 attorneys general in releasing the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of the Treasury granting Elon Musk and his so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) staffers access to sensitive payment systems containing Americans’ personally identifiable information.

Attorney General William Tong, Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves, Danbury Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour, Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan Cafferelli, Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Ronnell Higgins, and Department of Labor Commissioner Danté Bartolomeo today announced results of a recent raid on Danbury smoke shops, netting approximately 55 pounds of illegal cannabis products from three shops found violating numerous criminal and civil statutes including illegal drug sales, underage sales, labor violations, and tax violations.

As part of a coordinated coast-to-coast crackdown on bootleg nicotine products, Attorney General William Tong announced he has served civil investigative demands on 12 Connecticut smoke shops and convenience stores and two wholesalers found selling highly-potent, illegally imported disposable e-cigarettes flavored and designed to appeal to youth.

Attorney General Tong Joins Coalition of 20 Attorneys General Urging Senate to Demand Answers on Retaliation Efforts from FBI Director Nominee Kash Patel
Attorney General William Tong joined a coalition of 20 attorneys general today sending a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, urging the Senate to require Kash Patel, President Trump’s nominee for FBI Director, to return for further questioning before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The request follows alarming reports of politically motivated firings at the FBI and efforts to compile a list of agents involved in investigating the January 6th Capitol riots.
