Gov. Malloy: Leading Precision Manufacturer Will Expand and Create Jobs in Bethel
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Memry Corporation, a leading manufacturer in the shape memory alloys industry, will expand its facility in Bethel to meet growing production demand. As part of the expansion project, Memry will add 76 new jobs to its current workforce of 153 employees by November 2017.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Awarded Federal Planning Grant to Study How to Strengthen State’s Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Workforce
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), which have partnered on a Regional Aerospace and Defense Exchange (RADE) initiative to study the impact of defense contract reductions to Connecticut and New England, will receive a $1.25 million U.S. Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment (DoD OEA) grant for the joint effort.

Gov. Malloy: Agreement Reached to Turn Vacant Buildings into Bioscience Business Incubator, New State Data Center
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by state Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Commissioner Donald DeFronzo, state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Catherine Smith, Head of Pfizer Pharmatherapeutics R&D Rod MacKenzie, PhD, representatives from Connecticut’s bioscience research organizations, and other state and local officials, today announced that an agreement has been reached to put two vacant buildings on Pfizer’s Groton campus back into productive reuse as a bioscience innovation center for Connecticut United for Research Excellence (CURE) and as a new DAS state data center.

Gov. Malloy: Investment Will Create Jobs for Connecticut Residents
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) will provide a loan to Oxford Performance Materials (OPM) Inc. for an expansion project at the company’s South Windsor facility. The funding will create or retain 65 jobs for Connecticut residents over the next two years.

Malloy will hold a news conference in New Haven to announce the recipients of the competitive Arts in Education grants, which are part of a multi-agency partnership between the State Department of Education, the Department of Economic and Community Development-Connecticut Office of the Arts, and the Connecticut Arts Council.

Gov. Malloy: State to Invest $19 Million in Waterbury for Economic Development and Infrastructure Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Waterbury Mayor Neil M. O’Leary and other state and local officials, today announced a $19.2 million package of state investment in six development and improvement projects in downtown Waterbury, as well as funding for the design of a new signalization system for Metro-North’s Waterbury Branch.
