• 9/9/2015 Gov. Malloy Announces CTfastrak Has Delivered Over One Million Passenger Trips

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker and other state and local officials at the Flatbush Avenue CTfastrak station in Hartford to announce that the bus rapid transit system has reached a major milestone - one million passenger trips since its launch earlier this spring.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Bond Commission next week is scheduled to vote on a $7 million allocation that will allow the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) to purchase buses and other capital equipment necessary to expand CTfastrak east of the Connecticut River into East Hartford and Manchester.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state Department of Labor's Division of Wage and Workplace Standards recovered more than $6.1 million in unpaid wages for Connecticut workers during the fiscal year that ended June 30.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation today announced that the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) has been awarded over $2.6 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) - $2.1 million of which will be used to replace its outdated unemployment insurance computer system, while the remainder will be used to continue a successful fraud prevention partnership program.

• 9/15/2015 Gov. Malloy & Conn. Delegation: Connecticut Awarded Grant to Advance Economic Development Plans Across the Hartford Rail Line Corridor

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation today announced that the State of Connecticut has been awarded $700,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration to conduct a study of transit-oriented development (TOD) opportunities in the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail corridor, also known as the Hartford Line.  The federal funding will be matched by $200,000 in state funds.

• 8/6/2015 Gov. Malloy Announces Approval to Reduce Standardized Testing for Grade 11 Students

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Education has approved a waiver request he submitted on behalf of the State of Connecticut to reduce the amount of standardized testing required for public high school students.  In an effort to eliminate duplicative testing, reduce over-testing, mitigate student stress, and address parental concerns, the Governor last fall sought federal approval to replace the 11th grade Smarter Balance Assessment - or SBAC exam - with the SAT.With today's approval, starting in the fall 2015-2016 school-year, the SAT will be used in lieu of SBAC, and will be free for all Connecticut students.
