Gov. Malloy, Attorney General Jepsen, Commissioner Klee Statements on EPA Rule on Pollution from Power Plants
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen, and Commissioner Robert Klee of Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection released the following statements regarding the release today of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean Power Plan, which will regulate carbon pollution from existing electric power plants.The EPA was required to issue this rule under the Clean Air Act and as a result of the 2006 decision by the United States Supreme Court in Massachusetts et al v. Environmental Protection Agency in which twelve states, including Connecticut, and several cities, brought suit against the EPA to force that federal agency to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as pollutants.

Gov. Malloy: CTtransit Buses Soon to Provide Real-Time GPS Tracking Information Statewide
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that CTtransit buses throughout the state will soon be equipped with GPS devices that will provide real-time bus location information to riders. With a total of 42 million passenger trips taken per year, riders will be able to better plan travel with up-to-the-minute arrival and departure information, as well as a better experience, with the new devices.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today visited the North End Farmers' Market in Hartford, where he held an event to promote Connecticut Grown products and encouraged residents to purchase locally-grown, healthy food at their neighborhood farmers' markets.

Gov. Malloy: Federal Aid for January Blizzard Has Reached Nearly $1.5 Million
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that nearly $1.5 million in federal assistance has been received by Connecticut since President Obama approved his Disaster Declaration request for New Haven, New London, Tolland, and Windham Counties as a result of the January 2015 blizzard. During the storm, some areas saw more than two feet of snow, with many towns - particularly in eastern Connecticut - devastated for several days or more.

New England Governors Take Action on Opioid Abuse, National Surface Transportation Legislation, and Low Income Home Heating Assistance
Today, the Coalition of Northeastern Governors (CONEG), under the leadership of Chair Governor Dannel P. Gov. Malloy Announces Brian Durand to Serve as Chief of Staff Starting September 28
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that Brian Durand, who currently serves in his office as Deputy Chief of Staff, will replace outgoing Chief of Staff Mark Ojakian beginning Monday, September 28, 2015. Durand has served as the Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff since 2012 and previously worked at the Office of Policy and Management.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut’s Aerospace and Shipbuilding Industry Receives Federal Designation to Accelerate Resurgence of Manufacturing Opportunities
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has successfully been designated by the Obama Administration under the Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership (IMCP) initiative. With this designation, Connecticut will receive coordinated support from eleven federal agencies with access to more than $1 billion in federal funding dedicated to economic development and the resurgence of manufacturing in the United States.

Gov. Malloy Applauds President Obama’s Efforts to See that ‘America is a Nation of Second Chances’
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded an announcement by President Barack Obama that he is commuting the sentences of 46 men and women convicted of nonviolent drug offenses who received harsh sentences disproportionate to their crimes. President Obama noted that overly-harsh sentencing for nonviolent offenses foment a cycle of permanent punishment, making it even harder for those to re-enter society.

Gov. Malloy and Secretary Merrill Announce Launch of New State Regulations Website
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Secretary of the State Denise W. Merrill today announced that Connecticut's website of state regulations has re-launched in an improved format that dramatically increases public accessibility and transparency in the state's regulation process. Located at eregulations.ct.gov, the website allows users to easily search the state's regulations using common text searching or advanced Boolean searching, and also allows for search filtering to find information faster.
