Gov. Malloy Announces Victory Parade and Rally Honoring UConn Women's Basketball to be Held This Sunday, April 10 in Hartford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut, City of Hartford, and the Hartford Business Improvement District will host a victory parade and rally celebration on Sunday, April 10 in downtown Hartford to congratulate the UConn Women's Basketball team for winning the 2016 NCAA National Championship. The parade will kick off at 1:00 p.m. at the State Capitol building and will be followed by a victory rally outside of the XL Center at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Gov. Malloy Bans Non-Essential State-Funded Travel to Mississippi Due to State Law Endorsing Discrimination
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is banning non-essential state-funded travel to Mississippi, following that state's enactment of a discriminatory law that allows businesses and nonprofit groups to refuse service to people based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives $2.5 Million Grant for Second Chance Society Initiatives
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has selected the State of Connecticut to receive a grant of $2.5 million to aid in creating a fairer, more effective justice system. The grant is a part of the Safety and Justice Challenge, a national initiative supported by the foundation to reduce over-incarceration, change the way states think about jails, and induce reforms.

Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Hail House Passage of Legislation Protecting Victims of Domestic Violence
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements following a vote in the Connecticut House of Representatives this evening approving the Governor's legislation that protects victims of domestic violence. The bill prohibits the possession of firearms for anyone who becomes subject to a temporary restraining order.

Gov. Malloy Releases Updated Budget Proposal that Cuts Spending and Includes No Tax Increases
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released a revised, balanced budget proposal that addresses the entirety of the nonpartisan Office of Fiscal Analysis's deficit projection by closing a projected $922 million deficit for FY2017. Falling under the statutory spending cap, this is the only budget presented thus far that tackles the full scope of the challenge. It includes no tax increases.
