Thursday: Gov. Malloy to Commemorate New Open Space Law
On Thursday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony to commemorate the passage of Public Act 12-152, a new law that strengthens Connecticut’s efforts to preserve land as open space and help the state meet its goal of protecting 673,210 acres, or 21 percent, of state land as open space by 2023.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Participates in Event to Honor Fallen Navy SEAL
On Wednesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join Stamford Mayor Michael A. Pavia and other local officials for an event to commemorate the upcoming first anniversary of the death of Navy SEAL Brian Bill, a Stamford resident who was killed in action in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen and Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein are warning Connecticut residents to be aware of potential scams in the coming days and weeks, especially ones in which scammers offer to help people get disaster assistance from FEMA.

Gov. Malloy: Conn. Receives $1.8m Grant to Hire Dislocated Workers for Sandy Recovery Efforts
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded the State of Connecticut a $1.8 million grant to create about 120 temporary jobs for eligible dislocated workers to assist with clean-up and recovery efforts resulting from the impact of Storm Sandy.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Approved For Federal Emergency Highway Funding For Initial Storm Damage
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has approved the state’s request for an immediate $2 million in emergency funding for infrastructure repairs resulting from Storm Sandy. Gov. Malloy: FEMA to Operate Fixed Disaster Recovery Centers in Milford and Norwalk
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that FEMA will operate additional fixed Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Milford and Norwalk to assist home owners and businesses affected by Storm Sandy. In addition, each of the other previously announced DRCs will be open longer hours on the days of their operation.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that FEMA will operate mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Milford, Guilford and Stonington over the next few days to assist homeowners and businesses affected by Storm Sandy. Previously, Governor Malloy announced the opening of DRCs in Bridgeport, Greenwich, Groton, New Haven and Old Saybrook.
