Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff Sunday in Recognition of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in recognition of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day, an annual observance honoring the sacrifices of fallen firefighters throughout the country.

Gov. Malloy Statement on National Report Showing Connecticut is a Leader in Reducing Gun Violence
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement regarding the release of a national report today from the Violence Policy Center, which found that Connecticut ranks as one of the states with the lowest rates of gun deaths in 2016 and is among a handful of states that are seeing a decline in the rate of gun deaths.

Gov. Malloy: State and Community Organizations Seek Volunteers for Annual Homelessness Census
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne M. Klein, and Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) Executive Director Lisa Tepper Bates are encouraging Connecticut residents to volunteer for the annual point-in-time and youth count of homeless individuals in the state starting next week. The annual counts are held every January and help provide critical data necessary evaluate the state’s progress when it comes to preventing and ending homelessness.

Gov. Malloy: Manufacturing Innovation Fund Annual Report Shows Long-Term Benefits for State’s Economy
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith today announced the results of the Manufacturing Innovation Fund (MIF) annual report. As of June 2017, the MIF has assisted nearly 900 companies and invested over $43.7 million to help accelerate growth, cultivate talent and boost investments in innovation.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff Monday in Honor of World War II Sailor From Bridgeport
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, October 8, 2018 in honor of U.S. Navy Water Tender 1st Class Stephen Pepe of Bridgeport, who was killed in action in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and whose remains were recently identified and returned to his family. A burial with full military honors is being held Monday in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives More Than $30 Million to Support Local Clean Water Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the State of Connecticut has been awarded over $30 million in Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund grants by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that will be used to help finance community-based water infrastructure projects, including for public drinking water systems and municipal sewage plants.

Gov. Malloy, CTDOT Indefinitely Postpone Hundreds of Transportation Projects Across Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today released a full list of projects totaling $4.3 billion that are postponed indefinitely until new revenue is appropriated for the Special Transportation Fund (STF). The Governor made clear that his administration will announce detailed proposals this month that, if adopted by the General Assembly, would bring the projects back online.

Gov. Malloy Extends State’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol through Next Monday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that due to the continuing forecast of bitter cold temperatures over the next several days with negative wind chill factors at times, he is extending the state’s Severe Cold Weather protocol that he activated last week to last through Monday, January 8, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.

Gov. Malloy Outlines Proposal to Stabilize Special Transportation Fund
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the outline of his administration’s revenue package to stabilize the Special Transportation Fund (STF) and allow for critical investments in the state’s transportation system to take place. Implementation of the administration’s plan for the STF would restore canceled state and municipal projects across Connecticut, and would prevent drastic increases in rail and bus fares and major service reductions on Metro-North, Shore Line East, and CTtransit bus services.

Governors Malloy, Murphy, and Cuomo Launch Coalition to Sue the Federal Government Over Federal Tax Bill
Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy, New Jersey Governor Philip D. Murphy, and New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that they are launching a multi-state coalition to sue the federal government to challenge the new GOP tax bill that eliminates the full state and local tax deductibility. This provision effectively preempts the states’ ability to govern by reducing the ability to provide for their own citizens and unfairly targets them and similarly situated states in violation of the constitution.
