Gov. Malloy Applauds Federal Transportation Grant Awards for Important Rail and Transit-Oriented Development Projects
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation, today announced that the state has been awarded two federal TIGER VI (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) Grants - totaling $22.6 million - for projects that will support Waterbury’s Active Transportation and Economic Resurgence (WATER) program and modernize Connecticut’s freight rail infrastructure in eastern Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy Announces the Formation of the Important Bird Areas Advisory Committee
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is forming a panel of experts that will serve as an advisory committee to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) on the creation of an Important Bird Area Program that will include identification and recognition of critical bird habitats and the promotion of bird conservation in the state.

Gov. Malloy Announces Investments in Commercial Districts to Attract Small Businesses and Grow Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that 13 municipalities across Connecticut are being awarded $5 million in grants to develop or improve town commercial districts in an effort to attract small businesses, grow jobs, and improve pedestrian access and livability in town centers. The grants are part of the state’s Main Street Investment Fund, which is administered through the state Department of Housing.
