Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Fly Half-Staff Friday in Memory of Astronaut Neil Armstrong
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, in accordance with a proclamation from President Barack Obama, has directed U.S. and Connecticut flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, August 31, in memory of Astronaut Neil Armstrong, who died at age 82.

Friday: Gov. Malloy Keynotes Hartford Jobs Corps Commencement- Welcomes Crowd to New Haven Open
On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the keynote speech at the Hartford Jobs Corps Academy commencement ceremony. The Jobs Corps is a national voluntary career training and education program that prepares young people 16 through 24 for careers in today's job market. The Hartford Jobs Corps Academy is ranked among the top 20 Jobs Corps centers out of 125 nationwide.

Gov. Malloy Announces Deloitte to Expand in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Deloitte is expanding operations in Connecticut across its Hartford, Stamford and Wilton locations. The project will create between 200 and 500 new jobs and retain all 1,153 existing Deloitte employees in the state. The positions range from entry level to high-level executive jobs.

Gov. Malloy: Arrigoni Bridge to Reopen All Travel Lanes Ahead of Schedule
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that the Arrigoni Bridge, which carries Route 66 over the Connecticut River between Middletown and Portland, will reopen all four lanes of traffic by September 15 - two months ahead of the original schedule.

Gov. Malloy: Bridgewater Associates to Join "Next Five," Will Create Between 750 and 1,000 Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Bridgewater Associates, one of the world's leading hedge funds, intends to build a state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Stamford. The $750 million project will be built along the waterfront in the Harbor Point development. To fully maximize the benefits under the agreement Bridgewater will create up to 1,000 high-level jobs within 10 years and also retain its current workforce of 1,225 employees.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Veterans Parade Recognized by Veterans Day National Committee
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Linda S. Schwartz, announced today that the Connecticut Veterans Parade, held annually in Hartford, has been recognized by the Veterans Day National Committee as one of the nation's "Veterans Day Regional Sites." This is the third year that the Veterans Parade has been recognized by the National Committee.

Gov. Malloy: Expanding Family Resource Centers Will Deliver Key Services for Connecticut's Children
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, together with Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Commissioner of Education Stefan Pryor, today announced that ten new sites for school-based Family Resource Centers have been selected to provide an array of additional wraparound services for children and their families. Expansion of Connecticut's family resource center network was a key part of education reform legislation signed by the Governor earlier this year.

Gov. Malloy: Investment in Hartford Hospital Will Drive Innovation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the state will provide a $10 million grant to support a 30,000 square foot expansion of Hartford Hospital's Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation (CESI). The CESI project is part of the hospital's larger $100 million capital improvement plan, which will make the institution a leader in training the world's healthcare professionals in the latest medical techniques.

Gov. Malloy: Regional Performance Incentive Program Helps Municipalities Cut Costs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that twenty grants totaling $8,614,845 will be awarded under the Regional Performance Incentive Program to regional planning and economic development entities across the state. The program, administered by the Office of Policy and Management, provides grants to planning organizations, economic development districts or groups of two or more municipalities that coordinate functions and services on a regional basis.

Gov. Malloy: State Emergency Operations Center Returns to Monitoring Status
The state's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) returned to monitoring status at 5:00 p.m. today as initial tests did not indicate any detectable levels of hazardous material entering the state as a result of an industrial fire in Ghent, New York.
