Tuesday: Gov. Malloy Signs Bill in Stamford Increasing Homeowner Protection Rights, Honored in Westport for Leadership on Gun Violence Prevention
On Tuesday afternoon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a bill signing ceremony in Stamford to commemorate the final passage of legislation he introduced earlier this year that increases protections for homeowners facing foreclosure and streamlines the state’s foreclosure mediation process for borrowers and lenders (Public Act 13-136 – An Act Concerning Homeowner Protection Rights).

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut's Annual Sales Tax-Free Week Runs August 18-24
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today reminded Connecticut residents about the state's upcoming sales tax-free week - an annual holiday that allows shoppers to purchase most individual items of clothing and footwear priced under $300 without having to pay the usual sales and use tax. This year's tax-free week runs from Sunday, August 18 through Saturday August 24.

Gov. Malloy Announces Launch of Nonprofit Grant Program to Help Providers Enhance Services
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the launch of the state's first-ever Nonprofit Grant Program - a new state bond pool specifically designated for nonprofit community-based organizations that provide health and human services through contracts or agreements with state agencies. The program will help nonprofit providers that do business with the state invest in projects that will achieve new efficiencies so they can enhance the delivery of services.

Gov. Malloy Selects Owen Eagan to Serve as Chair of the Freedom of Information Commission
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has selected Owen P. Eagan of West Hartford to serve as chairman of the Freedom of Information Commission (FOIC), the state body responsible for administering and enforcing the provisions of the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, which ensures citizen access to the records and meetings of public agencies.

Gov. Malloy Announces $16.5 Million Investment to Bolster Housing Efforts in Five Municipalities
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced a state investment of more than $16.5 million in five housing developments in Hartford, Waterbury, Vernon, Stonington and Middletown for projects that will help build or renovate approximately 465 residential units, of which at least 390 will be affordable to income-qualifying households.
