Gov. Malloy Appoints Naomi Cohen as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Community-Technical Colleges
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today appointed Naomi Cohen as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Community-Technical Colleges. Cohen will serve as Chairman of the Board through December 31, 2011. Cohen, who lives in Bloomfield, is a former member of the Connecticut House of Representatives and the former House chairman of the General Assembly’s Education Committee.

Gov. Malloy Appoints Dr. Robert Kennedy as Interim President of Board of Regents of Higher Education
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today appointed Dr. Robert Kennedy, immediate past president of the University of Maine, as the Interim President of the Board of Regents of Higher Education, a new system, which includes the four state universities (Central, Eastern, Southern and Western) as well as the community college system and Charter Oak State College, the state’s online college.

Gov. Malloy Asks Residents, Businesses to Report Damage from Hurricane Irene to 2-1-1
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today urged all state residents and business owners who experienced property damage from Hurricane Irene to report those damages to the state’s free Infoline, 2-1-1, or online at www.211ct.org. The collection of this data will be used to help prepare the state’s request for a disaster declaration from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Gov. Malloy Closes State Parks, Campgrounds in Advance of Hurricane Irene
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that all Connecticut State Parks will close at sunset on Saturday due to the approach of Hurricane Irene and that all state park campgrounds will close at noon on Saturday unless weather conditions dictate an earlier closing. State Parks and campgrounds will remain closed until further notice.
