On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will meet with members of the Litchfield Area Business Association to discuss issues related to what the Governor hopes to accomplish in a bipartisan manner during the upcoming Jobs Special Session at the end of this month. Approximately 60-80 area business owners and managers are anticipated to attend the meeting.

On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the keynote address at the “What’s the Deal?” business energy conference in Cromwell, hosted by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and the Connecticut Power & Energy Society. The conference is intended to provide business leaders with the latest information on Connecticut’s new energy laws and policies, and their effects on companies.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy has requested an emergency declaration from President Obama to assist with clean up and recovery efforts for the record storm that hit the state yesterday. If granted, the declaration would give the state access to direct federal assistance, as well as reimbursement for 75 percent of certain emergency protective measures.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today launched a website dedicated to keeping state residents up-to-date on Hurricane Irene, its potential track, and the work the state is doing to keep residents safe. All pertinent information will be posted online and can be accessed at ct.gov/irene. In addition, state agencies have a link to the information on the front page of their websites.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today welcomed federal approval of a flat $381 monthly premium in the Connecticut Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, a move expected to boost enrollment in the year-old program by slashing premium costs by as much as 57% for older beneficiaries.
