    Governor Dannel P. Malloy hailed the passage of bipartisan legislation aimed at reinventing Connecticut by creating new jobs, spurring innovation and strengthening the state’s overall competitiveness. The package that was voted on today was the direct result of input from Governor Malloy and Senate President Donald Williams, House Speaker Chris Donovan, Senate Minority Leader John McKinney and House Minority Leader Larry Cafero on behalf of their respective caucuses.

    Heeding Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra’s decision urging Hartford families and children to abstain from trick-or-treating in the city tonight, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Governor’s Residence, typically a popular spot for kids trick-or-treating in Hartford, will not be handing out candy this Halloween. Earlier today, Governor Malloy urged local mayors and first selectmen to make a decision about Halloween celebrations in their respective cities and towns.
