Governor Malloy: Businesses Interested in First Five Program Should Contact Office Directly
Last week, Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced the creation of his ‘First Five’ initiative—a new program that will provide incentives to the first five businesses that each bring a minimum of 200 new full-time jobs to the state within the next 24 months. Today, Governor Malloy announced that companies interested in the program should call his office directly to learn more.

Governor Malloy: Plan Now for Protecting Property In The Event of Spring Flooding
As the winter of 2011 continues to take its toll on homes and businesses around Connecticut, Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reminding property owners that the spring of 2011 could be just as potentially damaging, particularly for those property owners who live in areas where flooding poses a real threat. The Governor is once again reminding property owners that there is a 30-day waiting period for federal flood insurance from time of purchase before the policy goes into effect.

Governor Malloy's Budget: Creates Jobs, Shares the Sacrifices that Need to be Made, and is Balanced With No Gimmicks
Governor Dannel P. Malloy unveiled his biennial budget today, covering fiscal years 2012 and 2013. The budget includes investments in job creation, as well as cuts in spending, concessions from state employees and tax increases in approximately equal measures, while keeping the safety net intact and supporting business and industry as they create jobs.

Governor Malloy Activates Emergency Operation Center Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Governor Dannel P. Malloy will activate the state's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to respond to another possibly substantial storm gearing up to blast the state with snow, ice, sleet and rain over the next 36 hours.

Today: Governor Malloy to Attend UConn Cell and Genome Sciences Building Dedication
Governor Malloy will attend the dedication ceremony for the Cell and Genome Sciences Building at the University of Connecticut Health Center on Monday at noon. The building houses high tech research including the UConn Stem Cell Core, genetic sequencing, computer modeling and incubator space for emerging bioscience industries.

Dept. of Economic & Community Development Release: Blue Sky Studios Continues to Grow
Blue Sky Studios today announced it will expand its headquarters in Greenwich and create 70 jobs, a move that will allow the Oscar Award winning digital animation company to grow even more in the future. The state, through the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), is providing financial support for the project.

Gov. Malloy: Conn. Selected to Participate in National Policy Academy on Growth of Advanced Manufacturing Industries
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut is among seven states selected by the National Governors Association (NGA) to participate in a national Policy Academy that will assist states in developing and implementing successful economic development strategies focused on the growth of advanced manufacturing industries.

Gov. Malloy: Federal Assistance for Individuals Tops $5 Million for Tropical Storm Irene
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that more than $5,089,356.61 in federal assistance to date has been approved to help Connecticut residents with disaster expenses following President Obama’s approval of the Governor’s Disaster Declaration request as a result of Tropical Storm Irene.

Gov. Malloy: FEMA, FCC to Conduct First Nationwide Test of Emergency Alert System
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Wednesday, November 9 at 2 p.m. EST.

Gov. Malloy Hails Passage of Jackson Laboratory Bill
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today praised final passage of a bill that will provide $291 million in state funding for Jackson Laboratory’s (JAX) new billion dollar personalized medicine project on the campus of the University of Connecticut Health Center. A collaborative effort between Jackson Laboratory, the State of Connecticut, the University of Connecticut and Yale University, the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine will accelerate the development of new medical treatments tailored to each patient’s unique genetic makeup.

Governor Malloy Writes President Obama to Request Additional Federal Aid for Winter Storms
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today wrote to President Barack Obama to alert him to a forthcoming request for federal aid to address the impacts of the record snowstorm on January 11-12, but also to request additional federal aid commensurate with the severity of damages Connecticut is experiencing as the winter wears on.

Gov. Malloy Seeks Race to the Top Funds
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that the U.S. Department of Education accepted Connecticut’s grant application seeking $49.99 million in Race To The Top—Early Learning Challenge Grant funding to help strengthen ongoing state initiatives in early childhood education, and to establish a comprehensive, integrated early childhood system focused on high-need children from birth to age five. Connecticut’s application was submitted on Wednesday.
