• 3/15/2013 Gov. Malloy: Navigators Group Moving Corporate Headquarters from NY to CT

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that The Navigators Group, Inc., an international specialty insurance holding company, will move its corporate headquarters and additional operations from New York to Stamford, Connecticut. The project is expected to create 200 jobs in the state within the next five years.

Malloy today announced the launch of a new, user-friendly web-based service for the state's Department of Social Services (DSS) that gives the agency's 750,000 clients the ability to check on the status of their benefits online and provides members of the general public with a pre-screening tool to learn about which services they may be eligible for.

Malloy today announced that the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is next scheduled to meet on Friday, March 22, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, where they will receive testimony from experts on the topic of mental health, including issues related to access to care, public awareness, and discrimination.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Senate President Donald Williams, Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey, and Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, held a ceremonial bill signing today for Public Act 13-2, An Act Making Manufacturing Assistance Act Funds Available for the Small Business Express Program. The legislation permits DECD to administer $60 million in funding under EXP guidelines rather than under the Manufacturing Assistance Act, where it was originally allocated.

Malloy today announced that more than $37 million in capital improvement projects for the state's community colleges will be placed on the agenda for an upcoming meeting of the State Bond Commission. The funding will be used for new instruction, research and laboratory equipment; development of IT networks; and other various renovation and construction projects at the colleges.
