ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG JOINS 51 ATTORNEYS GENERAL AND 12 COMPANIES IN FIGHT AGAINST ILLEGAL ROBOCALLS
Attorney General William Tong today announced that a bipartisan, public/private coalition that he joined, consisting of 51 attorneys general and 12 phone companies, has agreed to adopt eight principles to fight illegal robocalls.

CONNECTICUT JOINS 21-STATE COALITION TO SUE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OVER TITLE X “GAG RULE”
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong today joined a coalition of 21 state attorneys general announcing a challenge the constitutionality of the Trump Administration’s domestic gag rule altering the Title X family planning program. The multistate lawsuit will be filed tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5th, in the U.S. District Court in Eugene, Oregon.

OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FILES PETITION FOR WRIT OF CERTIORARI IN TWEED-NEW HAVEN AIRPORT CASE
The Office of the Attorney General today filed a petition for a writ of certiorari with the U.S. Supreme Court to review the judgment of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in Tweed-New Haven Airport Authority v. Tong.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG AND CONSUMER COUNSEL KATZ URGE UI CUSTOMERS TO CHECK BILLS FOLLOWING RATE NOTICE ERROR
(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong and Consumer Counsel Elin Katz urged United Illuminating customers to check their bills following an error by UI informing consumers of an inaccurate standard service rate beginning July 1. As a result of the inaccurate rates posted by UI on the Energize CT website, some consumers may have switched to a third-party electric supplier on the incorrect understanding that switching would save them money.

ATTORNEY GENERAL TONG, DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS WARN AGAINST FEE FOR BENEFITS SCHEME
After becoming aware that Connecticut veterans have been charged potentially illegal fees for preparation of veterans' benefit applications, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong and Connecticut Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Thomas Saadi urged veterans and their families to immediately report such schemes and reminded the public that it is illegal to charge for preparation or presentation of veterans' benefit applications in most circumstances.

Attorney General William Tong and 29 other attorneys general filed a settlement today that requires Premera Blue Cross to pay a total of $10 million because of its failure to secure sensitive consumer data.
